Drag Racing Challenge ROUND 13: 3 Cylinders Light Weight Sport Budget! Deadline 15/11/2016

It may not make any difference, but we have three different quarter mile tracks to choose from. Any preference in which one you’d like to use?

Let’s go with Swanson 1/4, because 'Murica.

Darkshine’s rule #6 is Open Beta.

I’m running open beta and I need to know the number.

i wish i could tell you, but IDK.

Hmm. I don’t think there is a direct correlation from stable to beta. I thought the rules were stable, but if everyone is beta then I’d set the utility requirement at 95.

So, the racemaster @JohnWaldock is not running open beta? So if I get it to 95 in open beta and send the file to John, then he may see a different number?

i’ve never run in beta, only stable. and all the vehicles you’ve sent through have been a-ok so far.

So let’s test this. I’ve made a truck that I won’t be submitting. I can send it to you and see if the numbers match up between my beta and your stable. Would you be up for that?

The beta number is going to be higher. The problem is that if you build two different trucks in stable that both get 70 utility, I don’t think they will get the same in beta. If it were up to me, I’d prefer using the beta numbers as they were specifically revised for better realism. But it should be up to you guys to decide.

I’m also running open beta. And right now I’m actively competing in another challenge that requires race to race modifications, so I’m not willing to change to stable release.

sure, bung it through

It’s been sent. Here are my numbers.

guys, what if we drop utility and use cargo volume? are there any discrepancies between stable and beta?

I don’t think there is, but cargo volume is just one of the 17 factors included in utility.

Yes! So many challenges that fit my build strategies, yet so little time. I’ll be split between this and CSR, but I’ll get something in.

@JohnWaldock has seen the discrepancies between the utility numbers, but I’m not sure what he is going to do about it yet.

i think scrapping utility may be in order. i say this, because a lot of pickups only tow trucknutz.

I would disagree. The reason why I chose this challenge is because a lot of choices that are good for utility are bad for performance, such as weight, automatic transmissions, tire type, etc. I think the simplest solution would just be to have two numbers for stable and beta, and accept anything as long as it satisfies one of them.

The problem I see is that John can’t see the Beta numbers, so something that satisfies the beta numbers may not satisfy the stable numbers. This challenge is setup to be ran in beta, however, when the race master cannot follow the rules it throws a wrench in it all.

Unfortunately I’m obligated to agree with @one85db, if the rules says that the base of the challenge will be the open-beta, then the numbers must be in open-beta and the race master should run open-beta too, so the numbers will stay the same.
@JohnWaldock, I really like your work as the race master, so would it be too much trouble to you to change to the open-beta?
