Hot Lap Challenge HLC round 7: wnb V8 SUPERCARS 15.11.2016, 12.00 (noon) CET

There is no “right/wrong” way to go, it all depends on your tune and what are you trying to get. Trial and error is your friend  although if you want to keep 70’s muscle spirit, carbs are the way to go.

@Fayeding_Spray I can’t believe we have chosen almost exact same colour (only mine is a tad darker)

Smooth Wolf TA

one could say it’s quite a tight package

Looks like a very competetive pony that works well on the track. But I guess, it fits in the trunk of my car.

what if the said drunk goes home driving a mobility scooter? isn’t it actually safer than walking? he can’t fall, maybe…

oh who am i kidding, it’s a drunk.

anyway. i’ve smelling that there’s going to be more than 2 vans in this round.

I can’t imagine how a van could be competitive on Diablo

You can be booked for drink driving on anything her. Horse. Pushbike. Scateboard

so… were you drunk when you were writing that?

there’s a bit of vocabulary mistakes there.

nope stupid phone without spell check lol. And I speak French at home more than Austrlian these days lol unless of coarse I have visitors lol

If you look up the CMT thread in the design showroom, you’ll find the 1971 Hauler.
Just for fun, I installed the engine of the Buccaneer and kept my hands off quality sliders.

And now sit down before you continue reading.

That silly delivery vehicle does better than my submitted muscle except top speed!!!

And now I have two questions.

  1. Am I allowed to submit two cars? I think it would be interessing for anyone how that van scores compared to normal cars and especially to the CMT Buccaneer with the same engine.

  2. Since the Hauler is a 1971 model, I was not able to rewind the trim to 1970. But the engine is the same as in the other car. Is there possibly an exception that a van can be a year younger?

sorry, everyone has to be on the year 1970.

and only one vehicle per entrant as otherwise I will be swamped with reviews lol. This challenge down the track will be for 10 entries per round but since its the first round I will allow 15. keep in mind on my day’s off I can write on average 5 reviews so for 10 entrants thats 2 days of waiting for result on your end.

Edit: However @cmt if you send me a pm of your other vehicle named as test1 I will do the test for you back to back, but keep in mind that I will not accept any revisions or new vehicles.

I am totally fine with that. The Hauler already has the improved gearing and rpm that the first car recieved, and besides that solved issue I hardly see anything that needs to be changed for the first round.

In September 1970, the Austrailan-founded, but nevertheless international Hot Lap Challenge started. As the new Hauler would be sold from January 1971 on, a prototype fitted with the engine of the car taking part in the race had been unveiled shortly before race start.
The racemaster complained that CMT already had the Buccaneer taking part and that the Hauler is a 1971 model that had not been put on sale yet.

The racemaster allowed the Hauler to take part, as that advertizing campaign of CMT also helped the popularity of the race series, but the times driven were not part of the classement and the official results, as that van nevertheless got the publics attention and astonish. And that was all CMT wanted.

Is that an acceptable backstory?

I’m still tweaking on this beauty, but I think this will be my entry.

Maybe I can make another suggestion:

What if the HLC is a yearly contest, with the winner able to do the pretendings…
For example I win that muscle race, then I say umm… let’s do sedans with 5,0-L V8s and automatic for 1971. Then koolkei wins, and he says, ok, for 1972, let’s build some hot convertibles with fuel injection and an engine that has to use one certain size (like 4000ccm with a certain bore and stroke depending). Then I win again in 1973 and decide, well, let’s focus oil embargo, in 1974 we use hot hatches with max. 2500ccm sixes that must return at least 15 mpg. And someone in 1979 says then that for '80 we have to use turbo engines, as Renault just had its first Formula 1 win with turbos and that that technique is promising.

That would allow us to have a “realistic” racing series as it was actually a real one.

Sorry for the bad grammar, just wrote this under time pressure in break at work and I am no native speaker.

Edit: To make it even more realistic, it would be nice if sometimes, maybe twice per decade, the engines or bodies could be retained in the following year to keep developing expenses for the companies lower so that not just mega-corps can afford HLC.

Sorry CMT but the Hot lap Challenge will follow the same process as the DRC as it works.
There is a 60’s-70’s NASCAR event being worked on but that is all I can say as I am only an advisor and do not want to give anything away[quote=“CMT, post:137, topic:17704”]

In time my friend there’s alot of maths and programming to be done yet and to be honesty my computer ability ends at typing responses I will bring my brother from Bethesda in at some stage to write a competition program (no promises he is busy with the new Oblivion) but not for this easy competition

That was just an idea - I think it will be perfectly entertaining no matter how we acutally do it.

@Darkshine5 If you ever find yourself unable to continue hosting this challenge, please transfer responsibilities to another user, but make sure he or she can handle the hosting duties without much trouble. You appointed @JohnWaldock as the host of the DRC (which you established) after you stepped down, and the challenge actually went along better under his stewardship as far as I am aware. My hearts go out to you and your family
