QFC58 - A Headful of S-s-s-sugar! [DONE]

1979 LVC LS30 GT

220bhp. 161mph. 0-60 in 5.12 seconds. All you need or want in a lightweight (970kg) supercar, thanks to an all-alloy DOHC flat-crank V8 that revs to 7500 rpm, breathing through four Weber DCOE carburetors, and housed in a galvanized steel chassis clad in alloy bodywork.

But it’s not all brawn and no brains, with its low-profile high-performance tires and 4-wheel independent suspension, plus vented disc brakes all around, allied to a 5-speed close-ratio manual gearbox and helical LSD for optimum performance in all situations.

And it’s no stripped-out track special either, thanks to a high-quality premium interior, with a cassette tape and AM/FM radio for its stereo sound system, allowing you to enjoy every drive, even when commuting at sane speeds.

The LVC LS30. Starting from $33,000 AMU.

1984 QV facelift

The 1984 facelift introduced 4v heads to the engine, raising output to 250 horsepower.

In place of the quad DCOE carburetors, multi-point EFI with dual throttle bodies was fitted.

Wheels were enlarged to 16 inches (from 15 inches), and larger brake discs were fitted.

Production continued until 1989, by which time it had established an enviable reputation among enthusiasts worldwide.
