so i have
'01 super eco hatchback that gets ridicolous fuel economy but also ridicolously low power
'96 FF eco sportster that gets 40mpg but has 140hp+
'98 FR Entry-Level Sports car that stil gets 35mpg, 130+hp but is more practical.
at this rate, i’m gonna have to throw dice instead of a coin.
Your third entry is remarkably similar to my submission.
On a side note, the rules for this challenge are reminiscent of the requirements for cars (before 2010) which can be purchased in Australia under a provisional license (NA, max 6 cylinders, low power output) except that we only have to work with no more than 150 bhp, but it seems I may just have made the most with what I have…
Your entry is built on the same principles as mine, but given that it has a hard top, it should be classified as a small coupe (if you had wanted to challenge me head-on, you should have chosen the soft-top version of the same body). That said, it looks promising at first glance. The yellow paint actually makes it even more similar to an NA MX-5, and the design of the front and rear ends brings to mind a Lotus Elise S1 (except your car is front-engined). Overall, your car could be a serious contender for class honours, as long as it’s exciting enough to drive.
yeah, i need to try out that GIMP. installed it but haven’t opened or figure out how to edit gif.
and more then likely, the first 3-5 frames are the problem, and not the last frames.
@abg7 well, i kinda decided against convertibles because they’re much heavier and only brings a lot of penalty. especially safety, and fuel consumptions. that said, i will say one thing. mine is quite a bit more economical.
My entry, on the other hand, is intended to achieve as much sportiness as possible with the limited budget provided, hence the double wishbone front, multilink rear, performance intake and long tubular exhaust. Sadly a redline of 8500 rpm is only found in supercars nowadays, but in 1998 (the year of the introduction of the CMC II) it was more common to find a high-revving engine in cheaper cars like mine. Your eco hatch also had a similarly high redline, but it’s still an eco hatch, so it’s not a direct competitor to my car. Still, fingers crossed you claim a class win, despite its low power output.
After you’ve finally gotten a licence and you’re ready to buy a car, you don’t want to settle for second best. But you need a car that is reliable, safe and drivable. It must be below no more than 150hp and 6 cylinders to get insurance. At last, it should be somewhat sporty; your mothers corolla is not adequate

The Retroadster brings together the best of retro-modern design to a new generation of young drivers. Powered by a naturally aspirated 1.5L I6 producing 150 HP, the Retroadster is lightweight, easy to handle, and quick on its feet. An active rear wing and grippy sport tires help it corner at over 1.2g. This car loves to oversteer and with so much grip available, anyone can push it in a corner without being scared of spinning out. Better yet, it’s extremely affordable, with a price tag of $14850, and highly economical, at 45 mpg-US. The Retroadster is an ideal first car, one that allows an aspiring driver to learn easily and feel the enjoyment of driving, without being dangerous or expensive.
Presenting the Rogue! A tiny hatchback with a very sporty heart. I quickly made this to meet the deadline, but it sure is one small peppy car for the money, 13420 estimated price at 10%, and it goes 0-100 kph in 8.0 seconds. Bit surprised with how heavy it turned out, but that’s advanced safety for you I guess.
