1992 SVM Sandtiger V8 LTC

This one started out as an experiment to see if the Evade body set (specifically the 2.89m wheelbase notchback version) could be a viable basis for a '90s personal luxury coupe/grand tourer build. The resulting car was basically a mash-up of a Mark VIII (FR configuration) with an LT1-like OHV engine (displacing 5.7L and developing 300bhp) and a nose similar to a Chrysler “Cloud Car” (Concorde/LHS/300M) from later in the decade.

This is the LTC (Luxury Touring Coupe) trim, with a more comfort-focused setup and plenty of chrome trim pieces.

On this trim level, a 4-speed electronically controlled automatic gearbox was the only transmission available.

In side profile, its proportions are certainly dramatic, with sweeping curves and a low roofline making it look sportier than it is.

Genuine leather and wood (available in many different colors) abounds in the interior, which provides spacious, comfortable seating for four.

Air suspension with adaptive dampers came as standard, providing a super-smooth ride when combined with the all-independent setup.

A high-end stereo sound system incorporating a CD player and tape deck was fitted as standard - it even came with an adjustable equalizer.

To further justify its positioning as a flagship luxury coupe, rear-seat air vents were also part of the standard equipment list.

This generation of the Sandtiger remained in production for a decade, but was not replaced after discontinuation, and has since become an underrated classic.

Chase scene between a Tigerwolf and a Sandtiger

Here are some stills from a chase scene in the 1995 film Driven to Desperation in which a TSC Tigerwolf chases down an SVM Sandtiger:

All of them were taken at the same time, with the third one being an in-car shot.
