yes… you have 2 whole years welp
Wait… you have been complaining that I am slow at hosting challenges, right?
well. slow challenges are still better than badly managed challenges
I suspect you may have made a typo. I am assuming that the deadline is actually 21st August this year… We actually have just a few days left in that case. I submitted an eligible vehicle well before that, though.
From the list of entries I’ve seen so far, though, I’ve seen a surprising amount of variety: some are focused on affordability, others have better performance, but all improve on the CSR19 benchmark vehicle you have provided to us.
yeah no shit, but just FYI, I’m quite sure that everybody else knew this already
Otherwise I would have said something about it myself a while back.
Built in work lights, high mounted indictor/tailight assembly, 1200L of cargo space combined with 5 seats and it’s not practical or utilitarian enough?
Jesus, what do you people want, a 100t dump truck that seats 50 workers, has a mobile office and can still carry ore down a haul road? @abg7
I initially went the safe road too (still I6 turbo) but as soon as I thought about the drag race, it’s clear which attributes I enhanced. Time will tell if my interpretation is accurate.
Oh, and the reason why it’s pink is in the sales pitch. I refuse to call it magenta even if it is because pink is pink.
and i have a 9.2L V12, yours is invalid.
Epic comment is epic
FWIW I was going to submit a car powered by an EFI Boss 432 Big Block (7.1L SOHC 4v) but there was no way I was coming in under budget. The Ford 351 I’m now using barely comes in under budget.
@Spool actually made sure that his entry had enough practicality and utility to pass muster, and I am relieved that he did. @Denta chose to focus on power and comfort (although the manual transmission somewhat defeats the purpose of the latter). However, as is the case with my entry, his comes with power steering and anti-lock brakes as standard. My four-cylinder truck is more economical though.
I stuck with a 301 two barrel, technically that engine would be out of production since I switched most of my lineup to EFI in 1985. For this challenge I obviously made an exception, I figure as a variant that’s sold overseas, that should be normal. I didn’t want to go too crazy with power because I wanted to take fuel efficiency into consideration.
again, i advise also downloading the benchmark car and comparing your car to it.
even after all the entrants, it’s still a (surprisingly) good benchmark car.
i just simply dont want to lose offroad score, also using 3 speed automatic transmission doesn’t really cutting cost like at all if compared to 5 speed manual and doesnt really improve anything. and dont forget they like to do some drag so automatic is kinda a let down.
hence why i’m using a performance intake an tubular exhaust. performance.
@Rk38 I don’t think you ever answered this question, but Just How set are you on Five seats?.. I’m embracing my Inner Nerd and going full commie If It’s not an absolute necessity.
FTFY.
Well I mean your welcome to offer fewer seats but it might not rate very highly. As five is generally considered the minimum standard in this class of vehicle.
Prepare For Battle With The JHW Phalanx
This is a rugged truck without compromise, as the entire car has been kept simple, from the chassis to the interior, it’s designed to work hard. it’s super simple, but has the heart of a warrior!
At the core of our car, we have shoehorned a 9.2L V12 into the front, putting out 295hp and, more importantly, 630Nm of Torque, so you can drag the factory this came from!!!
0-62 is dealt with in a brisk sub 9s time, and tops out at 117mph, and does 15mpg UK, to boot!!!
the interior is minimal as minimal gets, not even a stereo, but due to the smoothness of the engine, those inside will find it more than adequate, comfort wise.
all this, for less than $12,000. Get your order ASAP!
How much cheaper would that have been if you used an inline six or a V8?
