which was what i was thinking, which was also why i asked.
then again, maybe it’s just in my head… or maybe not.
well… go on then, just do it
Personally I don’t think I can pull that off, so I will leave it to you
I agree with you - I felt like I had no choice but to build a hardtop coupe for this challenge. And for added points, I painted it bright blue!
but you do don’t you?
that’s why i asked. i’m still considering if i want to go be a wildcard, and go for convertibles
But that means you know, in your mind, that going convertible would go wildcard.
…so what would that make your motivation for trying to elicit an answer out of the host?
I don’t want to rag on this too much, or make an example out of this, but I too have felt the overwhelming temptation to ask my way to a perfect car. It kind of detracts from the point of this format. Some questions are more pertinent than others, e.g. is there are hard limit on minimum safety (answer: at least standard), but others are best left to the joy of letting the host discover what you’ve cooked up.
well…i… have no arguments…
looking back when i first asked this. it was almost midnight after the 5 hours+ trip home… so yeah. that kinda explains my brain wasn’t working back then. but 30 minutes ago i asked the same thing… wasn’t really sure what i was expecting
why brain, WHY?!
but then again. this is one round where a wildcard could actually win…
still doesn’t explain why i asked if ‘being a wildcard’ is a good idea or not
edit: i’m gonna shut up now
Only way I’d have done convertible in this round would have been if there was some sort of four-door convertible in our modern body selection.
I have the same reaction as Strop because the body I really want to use has a 2.34m wheelbase
Which ruled out the MRZ-3 plus a bunch of really awesome little coupe bodies
@strop and @koolkei you know the real wildcard is a FWD SUV waiting for you to download above
ʸᵒᵘ ᵏᶰᵒʷ ʸᵒᵘ ʷᵃᶰᵗ ᶦᵗ
But yeah, I agree a convertible isn’t what the 86 is about in my view but taking on the MX-5 would have been an interesting approach for Toyota.
Let’s just say after everything that’s been said I think everybody will be a little surprised at what I will submit in the end
it’s a Puch Magnum clone, isn’t it?
There are so few 4 seaters that aren’t boring…
To be fair, my entry has four seats and uses a body whose wheelbase is within the limits specified in the OP. There are actually quite a few bodies in that size range which don’t have provision for four seats, which rules them out of this round.
Unless you decided to go with more seats than necessary, doing otherwise would have been pointless as your entry wouldn’t have been accepted, so, I guess, good job…?
All this talk of a hard core sports car that’s also a convertible and no one brought up the s2000?
That’s coz it’s only got 2 seats and the minimum requirement here is a 2+2, I’m guessing.
A fair point, and one that I forgot. Well forget after I built and submitted my car, I remembered it while building I think. I’m curious if anyone is going to try to go ae86 on us. I did build a 1.6 NA 220hp subcompact coupe while testing out this event, but it’s tough to make it as fast as some of these.
Aha just had a lightbulb moment. I have to change my name from tidal to 150zx.
300zx = v6 2+2
150zx = I3 2+2
Why oh why dont we have superchargers…please camlaign be easyto make
1.5l?
Just how light is your car?
