The Car Shopping Round (Round 64): Tears in Heaven

What about fuel type?

Probably 91 to keep costs down

Thanks, fuel added. No need for 91, 95 is ok.

Probably it’s Europe, so 91 could cause problems with availability in some countries

An all-purpose sporty family car? I must come up with a plan for this, and I have several of them floating around in my mind right now… But I would rather make it look contemporary, not overly futuristic.

Are you sure that’s a MY95 model? Looks way too modern, man

Yea both body and trim is 95 but yes I agree it looks maybe a bit too modern.

Edit: Maybe a redesign is in order.

Are we living in a world where full alu bodywork is allowed, or are we going by the premise that it would not have been possible until Audi started doing it around the new millennium?

@AirJordan must the trim name be the car’s name? And must the variant name be the engine name as well?

If not, what is meant by “birth certificate” and “time of death”?

Honda had a full Aluminium car on sale in 1991 so it isn’t outside the realm of possibility in 1995 for a luxury wagon or sedan to go full Aluminium!

NSX being the first mass produced model

Ever wanted to be like Michael Schumacher or Damon Hill but need space for the family and plenty more besides? Then consider the 1995 AMP Oswego 3.0 Estate. Its 3-liter straight-six sends 276 bhp to the rear wheels via a mechanical LSD and six-speed manual gearbox - the perfect combination for endless sideways nirvana.

Inside you’ll find a well-appointed leather interior with a CD player and all the latest safety systems. And with sport-tuned fully independent suspension, you’ll be grinning from ear to ear on your favorite twisty road, while vented disc brakes bring you to a stop without a trace of fade. All this can be yours for $17900 before any markups are applied.

This example is finished in Adelaide Violet Metallic, but many other exterior colors are available (if purple isn’t your thing), and is fitted with 17-inch six-spoke alloy wheels as standard. For added peace of mind, we’ve also fitted ABS and traction control. And its understated contemporary styling helps it slip through traffic undetected with ease.

Those stats are pretty decent. My initial idea was also a 3.0 straight 6.

Maybe i took sport a bit too seriously?

Omega Motors Presents:
Magellan Wagon V6.
Defy convention.

Take to the roads, drive around the globe. Magellan’s the perfect blend of power, utility, performance, and safety.

Quick and Agile, Magellan delivers on every promise you could want from a family wagon.
With 291 lbft of torque on tap, 90% of which is available from 2,000 - 5,600 RPM, she’s never a slouch. We sent her to a local airfield, and she beat out a Lotus Esprit V8 by nearly a second. That deep thick torque band means we can gear her for quiet effortless cruising. Whether it’s in town, the back roads, or the autobahn. The highly modern 4.3L Big Bore V6 returns excellent fuel economy. Average 27 MPG.

Whether you’re riding on pavement, dirt roads, or in snow, Magellan’s optimized AWD system will give you the traction you need, when you need it.

It’s not all about handling and power. A well appointed interior will coddle you, all the way to your destination. An 8 speaker audio system with CD Player treats your ears. Comfortable bolstered, Power, Leather seats treats your rear. Leather wrapped steering wheel and shifter treat your hands. And we haven’t forgotten the family! There are 6 cup holders available, to treat your… uh treats.

(Model shown in Periwinkle Pearl Coat)

Omega Magellan. Everything to Everyone.

You can go full alu but there is safety penalty I will take in account.

The first thing I took away from that video was “so, this wagon needs 1200hp”.

The second thing I took away from that video was “wait, no, the wagon only needs 480hp, but it needs really skinny tyres and a loooot of oversteer”.

Then Chris Harris finally got to the point and I was like ohhhhhhhhhh.

i’m the one going with a wildcard this round

@madrias you going with wildcard again too?

Probably, though I’m not exactly sure how much wildcard to go with. I’ll have to play around and see what I can do within the rules.

Edit: Yeah, gonna post my ad in here, too.

Sometimes, the world changes. You grow older, have children, and now… Well, now you’re stuck looking for something that has seating for Junior. And as much as you like that cute little rear-engined sports car, it seats two. Or you’re looking at a muscle car, only to realize that a 2+2 coupe is still not quite a four-seater. You want something that combines the joys of driving with practicality and fuel efficiency.

Meet the Dynamite DX2. A simple wagon following a simple formula: Engine up front + drive wheels out back = fun. It’s not overly expensive, in our opinion, at $15,500 without markups, it gets 30 MPG, and has a turbocharged Inline 6 for optimal fun.

But we also understand families have needs. Camping gear, groceries, sports equipment, road trips. They’ll all fit in the back of the DX2. We’ve designed the rear hatch arrangement to open wide enough to handle big jobs, like that new rear-projection TV you want to buy. And to make sure the big jobs fit, the rear bench seat can be folded down.

Inside, we’ve given you 5 premium leather seats, a proper CD player with cassette deck and radio, and top of the line safety features. Combined with our all-steel construction, this makes the Dynamite DX2 surprisingly safe. But it’s not all doom-and-gloom inside the DX2, because we’ve included a large-format sunroof for everyone to enjoy.

Sure, it’s not the best choice, we’re sure of that, but we’ve combined a lot of great little features together in building the Dynamite DX2, while managing to keep the price low. Some car companies pride themselves on all the stuff they put into the car, but we pride ourselves on the choices we made. RWD because it’s fun. Turbo because they can be fun. Single cam because two is too many and causes expensive service bills. 5 speed because who the hell really needs 6 gears anyway. 16 inch alloy rims because everyone can appreciate a set of good alloys now and then.

And an all-steel body construction to protect Dynamite’s most valuable person.
