Hey there:

First, thanks for not binning it over a design choice such as the one I went with, because it was in an effort to gain something more worthwhile. The main reason the redline point was chosen was to gain extra reliability. I had a reliability target in my head and I realized excess revs were causing me to drop below that goal. Taking the engine beyond what was set is possible, but it gains just a couple hp. In my testing in Beam, it didn’t change the lap times, and the car stays well within the torque mound from gear to gear.

Thanks!

Fun fact: you can force an engine to peak earlier by decreasing valve spring stiffness.

If I had added a realistic engineering rule, it would have been out, but it technically broke no rules, it’s just not something that should be a “design feature” unless it’s an EV.

Are we sure we’re counting the score correctly? I realize it’s not over yet, but are we sure the math is right?

If you can tell me what is wrong, I can correct. My spreadsheet is annoyingly laid out for scoring reasons, so things may get lost in transfer between the sheets

No, I’m not saying the math is actually wrong, I’m surprised I’m in first place so far–normally I start at the middle at best and fall from there. Or barely get passed the instabins before I’m eliminated.

In other words, it’s not you, it’s me.

We move on to the middle scores next, worth up to 10 points.

I am saving looks scoring until the very end.

oh.

I only stuck on turbos because i was “down” on power, and obviously forgot about that rule. shame

I used a V12 in the CSR129 version of the Typhon. Wanted to try to see how well a flat plane was going to work.

Apparently the answer is “Well enough to make you wish you chose the V12.”

I can use v16 48 cylinders in general. Is sllipage a good thing? Although how can you judge a car by just the Automation alone.

Lmao I love being second then plummeting down the order, seems I have a good habit of pretending to be a rollercoaster in challenges :smiling_face_with_tear:

become me on cool wall: 20 points, and then nothing on stats

Well, this is an Automation forum, not a Beam forum. The judges aren’t obliged to use Beam to judge their cars, especially since good Auto cars don’t usually import well into Beam physics.

Cars have stats for a reason
