My 1c (because itās not worth 2c): I agree that the whole PewDiePie thing was blown out of proportion. And thatās saying a lot because I hold the vast majority of the YouTube Star Entertainment Industry in very poor regard, mainly due to the industry and the way social media is changing our interaction. The comedy barometer may change this way and that but I think in a way his undoing was subject to the same mechanisms that allowed him the same widespread exposure in the first place. The truth is you shouldnāt consider yourself contextually safe at all when posting publicly. I mean, if itās possible to see frankly anti-Semitic criticisms of, say, a kids animation like Zootopia on a casual glance through the comments sectionā¦
