I do wanna point out that in the nominations, it has been possible to abstain by writing something like “N/A” or “Not nominating” in a category, and in the first round by selecting all options in a category (so they cancel out).
I do agree with you that that’s not super obvious tho, and that putting the word “required” on the category isn’t quite sending the right message for something that should be very low stakes and lighthearted.
(Btw, imo if only 3 people care enough about a given category to cast a vote, those should be the only ones deciding that category. It’s not fair to them to have their opinions overpowered by a crowd of people who don’t have one.)

As I took the plunge hosting an event of this calibre for only my second time ever, I guess I was bound to hit a few snags.
Nevertheless, I'm glad to conclude this running of EOTY without too much of a fuss, and would like to thank those present in the Automation Discord and Discourse forums for their participation, as well as the talented players, modders, content creators and devs who continue to bring us automotive goodness in an era of uncertainty.

First, I want to congratulate all the winners. All of them are well worthy of a win, and since the field was both high quality and very even this year, voting was really far from easy.
Second, I want to thank everyone that voted for me as the role model of the year, because to me it feels like the finest award I could have gotten, and proof that my work has paid off and been appreciated by people, it means a lot to me. I really want to contribute with what i can, to make this feel like a welcoming and enjoyable community, and that being a part of it should give you something in return, no matter if you got the game yesterday and makes cars looking like bricks with five fixtures, or if you have played since the Kee days and has skills that makes you the Pininfarina of the Autoverse. So, being voted as #1 here feels very heartwarming, not because I got an award, but since I realize that my contributions to the community actually seems to have made it a more enjoyable experience for more than one member here.
